        What Are Magical Correspondences?

Correspondences are the links practitioners draw between a goal and the things that share its nature: a day of the week, a phase of the moon, an element, a color, an herb or a stone. Green and gold go with money, rose and pink with love, black salt and obsidian with protection. When you gather a few of these for one goal, every piece of your spell is pointing the same way.

The idea is old. Lists like these, called tables of correspondences, were compiled by 19th-century occultists from Renaissance and ancient sources. Modern witches mostly learned them from writers like Scott Cunningham, whose herb and crystal books are still on many altars. This finder puts the main ones for each goal on one screen, so you don't have to cross-check three books before you light a candle.

How to Use the Spell Ingredients Finder

        1. Pick your goal. Choose the chip closest to what you want to work on, such as Protection, Money & Abundance or Peace & Calm.
        2. Check the timing. The finder shows the traditional day and moon phase for that goal, the date the next one falls on, and whether the moon is in that phase right now.
        3. Choose your colors and ingredients. Tap a candle color to read more about it. The classic herbs and crystals are the ones practitioners reach for most often for that goal.
        4. Gather what you need. If you're missing something, the shop picks below are matched to the same goal.

You don't need everything on the list. One candle in the right color and one herb you already have make a complete spell. The rest gives you options.

Why the Day of the Week Matters

Each day of the week is named for one of the seven classical planets, and in Western magic that planet colors the day. You can still hear it in the names of the days: Sunday for the Sun, Monday for the Moon, Saturday for Saturn. In French and Spanish the rest show through too, as in mardi for Mars and vendredi for Venus.

        • Sunday (Sun): success, confidence, happiness
        • Monday (Moon): intuition, dreams, peace, cleansing
        • Tuesday (Mars): courage, strength, passion
        • Wednesday (Mercury): wisdom, communication, travel, opening roads
        • Thursday (Jupiter): money, luck, growth
        • Friday (Venus): love, friendship, beauty
        • Saturday (Saturn): protection, banishing, grounding

If the best day is a week away, many practitioners work on the second-choice day the finder lists, or in the planet's hour on any day. Our planetary hours calculator shows when each hour starts where you live.

Which Moon Phase Should I Use?

The waxing moon is for drawing things in, the full moon is for work at its strongest, the waning moon is for letting things go, and the new moon is for beginnings. That pattern follows the light: as the moon grows, so does what you're calling in, and as it shrinks, so does what you're sending away. The lunar cycle takes about 29.5 days, so a good phase is never more than two weeks off.

Some goals work in more than one phase. Protection is a good example: you might build a shield while the moon waxes and drive out something harmful while it wanes. The finder notes both when that's the case. For exact dates, the moon phase calendar lists every phase for the month.

When a Tradition Has Its Own System

The days, colors and elements here come from Western ceremonial magic and Wicca. Other traditions have their own ways of timing and building a working. Hoodoo, for example, has road-opening and uncrossing work that doesn't follow planetary days at all. Where that applies, the finder says so, and the tradition's own practices are best learned from practitioners within it.

        Frequently Asked Questions

Is the spell ingredients finder free?

Yes. The finder is free to use, and it runs in your browser. Nothing you pick is saved or sent anywhere.

How are the shop products chosen?

Every item in our shop lists its spiritual uses. The finder shows in-stock items whose uses match your goal, puts the classic herbs and crystals first, and shows one size of each item. Prices and stock are checked with the shop each time you pick a goal, and sold-out items are left out.

Do I need every ingredient on the list?

No. Pick one or two that you have or like. A single candle in the right color is a complete spell, and many practitioners work with nothing more than that.

Can I swap one herb or crystal for another?

Yes. Any herb or crystal from the same goal's list works in its place. Clear quartz and rosemary are the two most common all-purpose stand-ins, since practitioners use them for almost any intention.

What if I can't do my spell on the best day?

Do it when you can. The finder lists a second-choice day for many goals, and the moon phase usually matters more to practitioners than the weekday. Your intention is the part of the spell that can't be swapped.

Where do these correspondences come from?

The planetary days follow classical Western astrology, and the herb, crystal and color pairings follow the most widely used modern sources, including Scott Cunningham's books. Where a tradition has its own system, the finder notes it.

Is there a goal for health or healing?

No. Spellwork for your body or mind is a personal practice that walks alongside medical care, never in place of it, so we've kept this finder to goals like peace, protection and love. Our spiritual bath guide is a good place to start for rest and renewal.

Days and moon phases follow the classical Western planetary correspondences found in Scott Cunningham's books. Where a tradition has its own system, we note it. Products are matched by the spiritual uses listed on each item, and prices and stock are checked with our shop each time you pick a goal.
