Planetary Square Sigil Maker
A sigil is a symbol you make to hold one goal. This tool builds yours on one of the seven planetary squares, so the planet that rules your goal is part of its shape. Pick a square, type your intention, and the tool turns each letter into a number and draws a line through those numbers on the grid. New to sigils? Read about the different kinds of sigils first.
1Choose Your Square
A planetary square, also called a kamea, is a grid of numbers tied to one of the seven classical planets. Every row, column and diagonal adds up to the same total. Magicians have traced names and wishes across these grids for about 500 years, and the planet lends its kind of energy to the sigil. See kamea and classical planets in our glossary.
2Write Your Intention
What numbers can I use?
- A date that matters. The day you start a job, move house, sign a lease or launch something. Type it with spaces, like 10 31 2026.
- An amount. A savings goal, a raise or a price you want to reach, like 500.
- A number tied to the goal. Your house number for a home blessing, a room number, or an anniversary year.
- The planet's own numbers. Each square's magic sum and its grand total are old numbers of that planet. Using them adds more of the planet to the sigil.
Numbers keep a sigil private, because no one can read your intention back out of it. They also tie the sigil to a real date or amount.
The square only has number cells, so each letter needs a number. Simple counts through the alphabet. Numerology is the Pythagorean system used for life path numbers; it keeps every letter between 1 and 9, so the small Saturn and Jupiter squares never need to shrink anything. Both are fine. Pick one and stick with it. Older magicians used Hebrew letter values, called gematria.
Each tile is one stop. Your line starts at the red tile and visits each cell on the square in this order. The small print shows where each number came from, like C = 3, or 31 → 4 when a number had to shrink to fit.

How the Planetary Square Sigil Maker Works
This free tool draws a sigil on one of the seven planetary squares. Each square is a magic square given to one planet, from Saturn's 3 × 3 grid up to the Moon's 9 × 9 grid, and every row, column and diagonal adds up to the same number. Each number has its own cell, so the same numbers on the same square always make the same shape.
You choose the square, the tool turns your intention into numbers, and then it draws one line from cell to cell in order. The line starts with a small open circle and ends with a bar or a dot, the same marks magicians have used on these squares since Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa printed them in 1533. The tool uses Agrippa's versions of the squares.

Intention or Numbers: Which Should You Use?
Start with your intention if this is your first planetary square sigil. Type your goal in a word or two, like "Courage" or "Steady money," and the tool gives each letter a number for you. With the Simple setting, A is 1, B is 2 and so on up to Z at 26. The Numerology setting uses the Pythagorean values from life path numerology, which keep every letter between 1 and 9.
Choose Numbers when a real number belongs to your goal. A start date, a savings goal, a house number or the planet's own magic sum all tie the sigil to something specific. Numbers also keep a sigil private, because no one can read your intention back out of the shape.
What Happens to Big Numbers?
Each square only goes so high: Saturn stops at 9, Jupiter at 16 and the Moon at 81. When a number is bigger than the square, the tool adds its digits together until it fits, so 31 on the Jupiter square becomes 3 + 1 = 4. If you would rather give every digit its own stop, turn on Split long numbers, and a year like 2026 becomes 2, 2 and 6. Zeros are skipped because no cell holds a 0.
Which Square Fits Your Goal?
Pick the planet that rules what you want. The goal buttons at the top of the tool do this for you.
- Venus for love, friendship, beauty and making peace
- Jupiter for money, growth, luck and legal matters
- Mars for courage, drive and standing your ground
- The Sun for success, confidence and recognition
- Mercury for study, writing, business and travel
- The Moon for dreams, intuition, home and family
- Saturn for protection, boundaries, endings and breaking habits
Many practitioners draw the sigil on the planet's day and during its hour. Our planetary hours calculator shows when the hour of each planet falls in your town today.
What to Do With Your Sigil
Once your sigil is drawn, most practitioners charge it and then put it somewhere it can do its work. Our guide on how to charge a sigil covers the main methods.
- Carve it into a candle in the planet's color and light it on the planet's day. Our candle dressing guide shows how to prepare the candle first.
- Draw it on a talisman disk or a square of paper, with the faint grid behind it if you like, and carry it in your wallet or keep it on your altar.
- Engrave or paint it on the planet's metal, such as copper for Venus or silver for the Moon.
- Keep it in your spell journal with the date, the planet and your intention.
If you would rather build a sigil from letters alone, try our Witch's Wheel sigil maker. Our guide to the 8 types of magickal sigils covers the other methods.
Planetary Square Sigil Maker FAQ
Is this planetary sigil maker free?
Yes. The tool is free, and it runs in your browser. Your intentions and numbers are never sent anywhere or saved.
Which planetary square should I use?
Use the square of the planet that rules your goal, such as Venus for love or Jupiter for money. If you are not sure, tap a goal under "Not sure? Start with your goal," and the tool picks the square for you.
Why does my sigil look different from the ones in old books?
Older magicians gave letters their Hebrew number values, and some books print the squares flipped or turned. This tool uses English letter values on Agrippa's squares, so the shapes differ. Any method works, as long as you use the same one each time.
What is a kamea?
Kamea is another name for a planetary square. The word comes from the Hebrew for an amulet. You can read more in our witchcraft glossary.
Why does the Sun's square add up to 666?
The Sun's square holds the numbers 1 through 36, and those add up to 666. In this tradition 666 is simply a solar number, and every line of the square adds up to 111.
What happens when a number repeats?
When the same number comes twice in a row, the line makes a small loop on that cell. This is the traditional mark for a doubled letter or number on a sigil.
Do I need to keep my sigil secret?
Many practitioners put the sigil away or burn it after charging, so they stop thinking about the words behind it. Others keep theirs in plain sight as a daily reminder. Both are common.
Can I save my sigil?
Yes. The Save as image button downloads your sigil as a PNG on a plain background, ready to print, trace or keep on your phone. Turn on Show the square behind it first if you want the grid in the picture.
