This week on #WiccanChat, we delved into how to make Wicca feel as magickal as when we first started practicing! Our Sisters and Brothers of The Craft answered questions about how differently they practice now and what they could incorporate to make it less habitual on Twitter as part of Plentiful Earth’s Wiccan Chat! This was our third Twitter chat, and we look forward to seeing our Pagan Twitter community grow!
Read our magickal recap below, and feel like you were part of the magick! Follow us on Twitter, and be sure to join us on Twitter every Wednesday at 11am Central time! We cover a new Wiccan topic every week!

Icebreaker/Circle Caster: What was the first spell you ever cast? Did it work?
Answers from the Wiccan Community:
- “
#wiccanchat my first real spell was a spell to draw in money and we ended up finding $2k. Spent 3 months trying to find owner b4 spending it” @autisticwitchy - “A spell to cure a headache that my brother did not have! I was 9 years old and determined to be a REAL witch. That was almost 21 years ago.” @wickedwitch1987
- “I was picked on a lot as a kid. I was certain I could control the wind to blow them all away and leave me alone while on the playground.” @UmbreonKitsune
Q1: What’s your favorite memory of practicing Wicca/Your Spirituality?
Answers from the Wiccan Community:
- “A1: My favorite memory wasn’t actually during practice bc I am mostly solitary. My best memory was discovering my two BFFs were also solos!” @madrabanrion
- “Putting out a firebowl an acquaintance was trying to light a few times and watching him scratch his head.” @BreakdownGraphx
- ” The finest moment of practicing my spirituality came the 1st time I performed ritual prayer; the calm clarity was beautiful. #wiccanchat” @baubleyagashut
- “A1 one of my favs, My first and only group circle forced inside bc of rain in my little cramped living room. So much fun. #wiccanchat” @UmbreonKitsune
- “A1: going to my first open moon ritual. Finding out my American Grandma identifies as Wiccan and visiting Salem with her.” @autisticwitchy
- “In ritual: calling Air. Huge crow lands on the roof of my shed 2 ft in front of me. Flies off south as I turn to call fire.
#WiccanChat” @NorthwestWitch - “My favorite memory would be a Reclaiming ritual I attended for young women. Before entering the circle our feet were washed & dried by a woman who used her hair to dry them. It was a very emotional act and has been with me for the last 14 years.” @wickedwitch1987
Q2: Has your practice has become stale or too habitual? What’s your standard practice?
Answers from the Wiccan Community:
- “I try to keep things lively by trying out new things. I have started a daily yoga practice and I feel like that helps my devotion.” @wickedwitch1987
- “A2: It did. I ended up taking a break. But I am experiencing a reawakening. Everything is fresh and new again. #wiccanchat” @UmbreonKitsune
- “A2: Habitual, yes. Stale, no. Routine gives my practice structure, but if I need a (seasonal?) change, I swap oils, crystals, spells, etc.” @madrabanrion
- “My faith is based in v. repetitive ritual; I need to perform more outdoor ritual & prayer as my soul is starved for air. #wiccanchat” @baubleyagashut
- “The only thing that gets stale are the vibrations, but I change that by swapping out the element involved. #WiccanChat” @BreakdownGraphx
Q3: Do you utilize tools in your magickal practice? Why or why not?
Answers from the Wiccan Community:
- “I use non-traditional tools, some I make myself. As a writer, I feel a pencil/pen has always been my most powerful wand/athame.” @madrabanrion
- “A3 I do, but a lot of it is stuff I’ve been given as gifts. I do t think tools are necessary but I have such a loving connection to mine” @autisticwitchy
- “A3 Although the tools for herbcraft sometimes don’t SEEM very magical. Pruning shears! Mason Jars! My instant pot … #wiccanchat” @NorthwestWitch
- “The closest thing to tools I use are items in my environment to focus on transferring my energy into. #WiccanChat” @BreakdownGraphx
- “I have found that my mind is the best tool for focusing my energy & the accoutrements just distract me. I used to have ALL the tools.” @wickedwitch1987
Q4: If money was no option, and you could add one new tool/location to your practice, what would it be?
Answers from the Wiccan Community:
- “A forest in Scotland. Create my own grove” @PMoonfire
- ” I would go to Greece and live there and learn more of my patroness in Her homeland.” @wickedwitch1987
- “A4 I would want to take a trip to pantheacon one year. Meet legends of our community, handmade items, public circles. #wiccanchat” @UmbreonKitsune
- “A4: If RL were no concern, I’d want either invisibility or the ability to move at the speed of light. Or, both. How much do those cost?” @madrabanrion
Q5: What might be your first step or recommendation to making Wicca feel like it “used to”?
Answers from the Wiccan Community:
- “I knew you were going to say that. :b I don’t want to return to what it “used to” mean to me. As a kid, its power scared me…”@madrabanrion
- “A5 Although sometimes when things are feeling stale I’ll read a new book about magic and that will inspire me. #wiccanchat” @NorthwestWitch
- “Breaks are recommended. Journaling during down time for new ideas when you start back up again. Rest. #WiccanChat” @BreakdownGraphx
- “A5 I try to become more mindful. To see the magick in life we typically over look. I keep it simple and focus on gratitude. #wiccanchat” @UmbreonKitsune
Q6: If you created a Wiccan 30-Day Challenge for yourself, what would it be?
Answers from the Wiccan Community:
- “A6 I’ve been pondering a 30 day witchy photo challenge, with a different theme each day. In October, leading up to Samhain! #wiccanchat” @NorthwestWitch
- “We all want the fun spells w/the glamorous tools. But starting off strong w/good foundations would be a good 30 day challenge.”@wickedwitch1987
- “A6 First, I want to “map” the zones in my house, community, city, etc where I feel energies, both pos and neg. #wiccanchat” @madrabanrion
- “More bare feet on earth, rain on skin, wind in hair, sun on face, and UNPLUG – not every moment needs to involve my phone! #wiccanchat” @baubleyagashut
